How to connect an email marketing tool
Link Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Brevo or another tool, then check its lists, import them to campaigns and keep them clean
Updated 11 October 2026
Connecting your email marketing tool lets SpamCipher read its lists. From then on you can check a list without exporting it, write the results back as tags, pull a list straight into a campaign, and have new contacts checked on a schedule. Most tools connect with an API key from their settings; the connect card says where to find it.
Before you start
- Admin access to the tool, to create or copy an API key
- About 4 minutes
Connect a tool
Step 1: Open Integrations
- In the left menu, point to the link icon to open Integrations.
- Click Connected ESPs.
Step 2: Pick the tool
- Under Suggested Services, find your tool and click Connect on its card.
- If it is not there, click add an integration and search for it by name.
Step 3: Paste the API key
- The card turns into a short form. Paste the API Key from your tool's settings; Where do I find this? opens the page in your tool where keys live.
- Some tools, Mailchimp among them, also ask for the Datacenter, the short code at the end of your API key or in your account's web address, such as us1.
- Click Connect. The card shows the account it connected to.
Step 4: Find a tool that is not listed
- Click Add Integration in the left menu, or add an integration on the connected page. Search by name, or filter by category.
- If your tool is not there, click Request an integration and say which one. The request goes to the team.
Use the connection
Step 5: Check a list, or pull it into a campaign
- Under Email Validation, click Bulk Verify and then ESP Import to check a list from the tool, with the results written back as tags if you like.
- On a campaign's Leads tab, the ESP option imports a list straight into the campaign, and can keep it in sync as the list grows.
- To check new contacts on a schedule, see the article on keeping a list clean automatically.
Troubleshooting
Connect says the key is invalid
Keys are long and easy to cut short when copying; paste it again. For Mailchimp, the datacenter must match the end of the key (a key ending -us21 needs us21).
I connected but see no lists
The key may belong to a user without access to the lists, or the tool's API may need a moment. Click Connect again on the card to refresh; if the lists are still missing, create a key with full access in the tool.
I want to disconnect
Open Connected ESPs and click Disconnect on the card. Schedules that used it stop, and nothing in the tool is changed.
