How to create and launch your first campaign
Write your emails, add your leads, choose the mailboxes that send, and launch
Updated 10 October 2026
A campaign is a set of emails that SpamCipher sends to your leads, one after another, from the email accounts you choose. You build it in three tabs, Sequence, Leads and Mailboxes, and then launch it. Nothing is sent until you click Launch campaign.
Before you start
- At least one connected email account. If you have none, follow How to connect a Gmail account first.
- Your leads, as a CSV or text file or ready to paste
- About 10 minutes
Check what is left to set up
Step 1: Open Campaigns
- In the left menu, point to the paper plane icon to open Outreach.
- Click Campaigns.
Step 2: See how ready you are to launch
- Until setup is finished, a box in the top right says how ready you are.
- Click Check details to see each item, such as Add a sending account and Warm up your accounts.
- Each item that is not done has a link that takes you to it.
Create the campaign
Step 3: Start a new campaign
- Click + New campaign in the top right.
- A panel opens on the right.
Step 4: Name it
- Type a name under Campaign name. Your leads never see it.
- Click Create campaign.
- The campaign opens, ready for your first email.
Write your emails
Step 5: Write the first email
- On the Sequence tab, type a subject and your message under Initial email.
- To fill in each lead's details, use the fields listed under Personalization, such as {{first_name}}.
- Click Save sequence.
Step 6: Add follow-ups
- Click + Add follow-up below the last email.
- Set how long to wait after the email before it, in minutes, hours or days.
- Under Send, choose who gets it. Leave the subject empty to reply in the same thread.
- Click Save sequence again.
Add your leads
Step 7: Import your leads
- Click the Leads tab.
- Choose Paste, Upload file, Saved list or ESP. To paste, put one lead per line, for example email, first name, last name, company.
- Leave Verify emails before sending ticked. Each address is checked at no charge, and a lead waits until it has been.
- Click Import leads. Your leads appear in the table below.
Choose who sends, and when
Step 8: Choose the mailboxes that send
- Click the Mailboxes tab.
- Tick the email accounts that should send this campaign. Leads are spread across them.
- Click Save mailboxes.
Step 9: Set start and end dates (optional)
- Below the mailboxes, click Schedule.
- Pick a date under Starts or Ends if the campaign should only send between them. With no dates it sends from launch until you pause it.
- A date saves as soon as you pick it.
Launch
Step 10: Launch the campaign
- Click Launch campaign in the top right. You can click it once there is a first email with a subject, at least one lead and at least one mailbox.
- If a mailbox is still warming up, SpamCipher asks you to confirm. You can send anyway or wait.
- A message says how many leads were queued, and the campaign's status changes to active.
Troubleshooting
Launch campaign stays grey
The first email needs a subject and a message, and the campaign needs at least one lead and one ticked mailbox. Check all three tabs.
It says "Add at least one step before launching"
Your emails are not saved yet. Open the Sequence tab and click Save sequence, then launch again.
It says "Assign at least one mailbox before launching"
The mailboxes are ticked but not saved. Open the Mailboxes tab and click Save mailboxes.
It says "No active mailbox in the pool, connect or resume a mailbox"
Every mailbox you chose is paused or disconnected. Open Email Accounts, reconnect or resume one, then launch again.
It says "Import at least one deliverable lead before launching"
None of your leads can be sent to, for example because they are all on your suppression list. Import new leads and try again.
It says "Launch blocked by your deliverability gate"
Your settings ask for a recent inbox placement test before sending. Run one for each mailbox it names, or turn the gate off for this campaign under Deliverability on the Mailboxes tab.
It says the booking link has no booking page
One of your emails uses the booking link. Make a booking page under Outreach, or remove the link from your emails.
My leads are not being sent to after launch
Each lead waits until its address has been checked, which usually takes minutes. If you turned checking off when you imported, turn on Send to unverified leads under Sending rules on the Mailboxes tab.
