How to pause a campaign

Stop a campaign sending at once, and start it again where it left off

Updated 3 November 2026

Pausing a campaign stops it sending straight away. Nothing is lost: every lead keeps its place in the sequence, and when you start the campaign again each one gets the email it was due next. Only an active campaign can be paused.

Note: Pausing never loses anything. Each lead keeps its place and gets the email it was due next when you launch again.
Note: A campaign you or a teammate paused shows paused with no reason. Only a pause SpamCipher made comes with one.
Note: Pausing a campaign does not pause its mailboxes or their warm-up. To stop a mailbox sending for every campaign, pause it on Email Accounts.

Before you start

  • An active campaign
  • About 1 minute

Pause it from the list

Step 1: Open Campaigns

  • In the left menu, point to the paper plane icon to open Outreach.
  • Click Campaigns.

Step 2: Open the campaign's menu

  • Find the campaign in the list.
  • Click the three dots at the end of its row.

Step 3: Click Pause

  • Click Pause in the menu. The menu shows Pause only for an active campaign; a paused one shows Resume instead.
  • The campaign's status changes to paused and nothing more goes out from it.

Or pause it from the campaign's page

Step 4: Open the campaign and click Pause

  • Click the campaign's name in the list to open it.
  • Click Pause in the top right. Pause shows there while the campaign is active.

Start it again

Step 5: Resume or launch it

  • On the Campaigns page, open the campaign's menu and click Resume.
  • Or open the campaign and click Launch campaign in the top right.
  • It carries on where it stopped, inside its sending schedule.

Troubleshooting

I do not see Pause in the menu

Pause shows only for an active campaign. A draft has not started, and a paused one shows Resume. People invited to a workspace as a client can see campaigns but not change them.

My campaign says paused but I did not pause it

SpamCipher pauses a campaign to protect your sending, for example when too many emails bounce, and says why under its name. See Why is my campaign held or paused.

I want to stop every campaign at once

Pause each active campaign from its menu, or pause the mailboxes on Email Accounts, which stops every campaign sending from them.
