Get paid: PayPal and tax details
Add the PayPal address we pay and the tax details we need before your first payout
Updated 14 October 2026
Before we can pay you, we need to know where to send the money and who we are paying. Both are on the Get paid tab of your partner area. You add them once, and change them whenever you need to.
Note: SpamCipher pays from Canada, so there is no W-9 or W-8BEN form to fill in.
Before you start
- The email address of your PayPal account
- Your legal name, address and tax number, if you have one
- About 4 minutes
Add your PayPal address
Step 1: Open Get paid
- In your partner area, click Get paid. A dot beside it means something is still needed before your first payout.
Step 2: Save your PayPal address
- Under How you are paid, type the address in PayPal account email.
- Click Save PayPal address. The card then shows the address it is set to.
- We pay by PayPal, in US dollars, on the 15th of each month once your due total reaches $50.
Add your tax details
Step 3: Fill in the form
- On the Tax details card, enter your legal name (or your business's), your street address, city and country.
- Add your Tax number if you have one, such as a SIN, BN, SSN, EIN or VAT number.
- If you live in Canada and are registered for GST/HST, add that number too. It then shows on your statements.
Step 4: Save them
- Click Save tax details.
- Once saved, the card shows your name, your country and only the last four digits of your tax number.
Step 5: Changing them later
- Click Change tax details on the same card. Leave the tax number empty to keep the one we have, or type a new one to replace it.
- Canadian residents paid $500 or more in a year may receive a T4A slip.
What stops a payout
Step 6: The to-do list
- Until each is done, Next payout on the Overview tab lists it. Agencies also sign the partner agreement first.
- A payout also waits while your due total is under $50, or while your partnership is paused.
Troubleshooting
It says to enter the email address of my PayPal account
Check the address for a typing mistake. It must be the address you sign in to PayPal with.
My country is not in the list
We cannot pay residents of a few countries, for legal reasons. Contact us if you think yours should be there.
It says a GST/HST number looks like 123456789RT0001
Type the number exactly as it is on your registration, nine digits, RT and four digits.
Can I be paid by bank transfer?
Payouts go by PayPal for now.
