Commissions, holds and reversals
What you earn on each payment, when it becomes yours, and why a commission can be held or taken back
Updated 14 October 2026
Each time a workspace you referred pays for SpamCipher ONE, a commission is written for you. It waits 30 days so refunds can clear, then joins your next payout. The Commissions tab lists every one, with its status and when it is paid.
Note: Commission is on SpamCipher ONE plan payments, less tax. Credit packs do not earn commission.
Note: A workspace you resell at the partner price earns no commission. Your margin there is the discount.
Before you start
- An approved partner or affiliate account
- About 5 minutes
See your commissions
Step 1: Open the Commissions tab
- In your partner area, click Commissions.
Step 2: Read and filter the list
- Each row shows the invoice date, the workspace, the amount the commission is on (Base), your rate, the commission, its status and when it is paid.
- To see one status only, pick it in Every status.
- Before your first commission, the list says No commissions yet.
How much you earn
Step 3: Agencies, by tier
- 20% of each plan payment at Starter and Bronze, 25% at Silver and Gold, and 30% at Platinum.
- It runs for 36 months from the referred workspace's first payment, and follows your tier as it changes.
Step 4: Affiliates
- 30% of each plan payment for the first 12 months from the customer's first payment, then 10% for as long as they stay.
- Founding affiliates earn 40% for those first 12 months. Your partner area says founding at the top if you are one.
Step 5: Monthly and annual plans
- A monthly payment writes one commission.
- An annual payment is split into 12 monthly parts, marked Part of an annual plan. If the customer leaves during the year, the parts still to come stop.
Status, holds and reversals
Step 6: What each status means
- Pending means it is in its 30-day hold. It becomes due 30 days after the month it is for.
- Due means it goes in the next payout on the 15th, once your due total is $50 or more.
- Paid means it was in a payout we sent. On hold means we are checking it. Reversed means it was taken back after a refund or dispute.
Step 7: Why a commission is on hold
- Commissions are held when their referral is on hold. That happens when the buyer's details matched yours at the first payment, when you were named agency partner more than 60 days after the workspace first paid, or while we look into misuse or a payment dispute.
- A held commission is paid once we clear it. Contact us if you think a hold is a mistake.
Step 8: Refunds and disputes
- If a payment is refunded or disputed, the commission on it is taken back in proportion.
- A commission not yet paid is marked Reversed. One already paid is offset by a negative line, marked Reversal, that comes off your next payout.
Step 9: If your partnership is paused or ends
- While it is paused, nothing is paid.
- If it ends for any reason other than a breach of the terms, you are still paid what you earned, on the normal schedule. After a breach, the unpaid balance is not paid.
Troubleshooting
A commission is lower than my rate times the price
Commission is on what the customer actually paid, less tax. A discount on their plan lowers it too.
A referral is paying but no commission was written
Resold workspaces earn none, and an agency's commission on a referral stops after 36 months. Contact us if neither applies.
I see a negative amount
That is a reversal after a refund or dispute on a commission we already paid. It comes off your next payout.
